Sure, you can get pizza from “the hut” anytime, but why not make this weekend a special occasion and try something new. Here are four very different Italian restaurants that serve pizza made in totally different ways. One is sure to please your tastebuds.

Sparta’s features 37 different pizzas to choose from including The Greek (Fresh garlic, sliced tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, artichoke hearts, pesto and pizza sauce) and Sparta’s Special (Pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, Salami, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Olives and Onions) and most are served deep dish style with Danish mozzarella cheese. However, if you don’t like their combinations, you can always create your own and if you are just stubborn enough, you can order your own 7” pizza for just $6 which is still plenty for one person. (Additional toppings are .90 extra each)

Since 1991, Uncle Peteza’s has been winning awards such as the “Best Pizza in Northshore” for their pizzas and calzones made with homemade dough and sauces. Deru Market features wood-fired pizza to enjoy on the premises or to take home. Pizza choices include the Margherita (mozzarella, basil and parmesan), Apple and Arugula (brie, mozzarella, parmesan and lemon), Fig and Blue Cheese (mozzarella, parmesan, carmalized onions, arugula and lemon) and Rosemary Cream (extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella, Yukon gold potato, scallion, bacon, kale and parmesan). The owners of Pizzaiolo re-create original wood-fired pizzas from Napoli Italy using an authentic recipe for their pizza sauce made from San Marzano tomatoes. They also used organic and fresh ingredients whenever possible to make the “best pizza on earth” but of course, you’ll need to be the judge. According to the owners, “Your taste buds, will join in a symphony of flavors bringing you to that little Italian town with the country side vineyard, the dirt road and that table on the shade under the olive tree.” Unique flavors include the Smoked Salmon pizza (olive oil, mozzarella, dill, garlic, smoked salmon, tartar sauce and grana Padano, Eggplant and Goat Cheese (basil, diced mozzarella, eggplants, goat cheese, mushrooms, artichokes red peppers, extra virgin olive oil and grana Padano).
